Mughals were fond of music. One Hindu Musician, Tansen, was very popular and beloved during the Mughal era, who used to sing in their social gathering and in their court.

During their expedition from Delhi to Lahore, via Sirhind, the Aam Khaas Bagh was used as a spot for them to take breaks from their journey and have some rest.

The site plan is in the shape of the rest symbol used in music notes and the planning has been done in that form.
